The Dorel Juvenile Group (Canada) and Transport Canada issues the following public notice regarding a label on the Safety 1st Combination Child Restraint/Highback Booster Seat, model 02-64C SAL produced between June 7, 2002 and July 12, 2002. The model number can be found on a label located on the side of the car seat.
An incorrect Statement of Compliance label was applied to 2,500 units. The incorrect label states the weight of the user to be between 30 lbs 100 lbs (13.62 kg 45.4 kg) when using the car seat as a belt-positioning seat. The correct label should state 18 kg 45 kg (40 lbs 100 lbs).
We do not believe that the incorrect label constitutes a safety risk, however, in accordance with the CMVSS requirements, the user should not weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs) in the belt-positioning booster cushion mode. There have been no reported incidents or injuries.
Both the correct and incorrect labels were applied to the Booster Seat. The incorrect label should be removed and is identified by its part number 4359-4520.
