The Safety 1st Baby Monitor provides a high-quality live streaming video connection to your mobile phone. Using our Safety 1st Baby Monitor App (iOS & Android compatible) and your home Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz Required) you can receive real-time notifications on your mobile device when there is motion or noise detected.

Safety 1st Baby Monitor includes a standard 1 year warranty. Coverage is provided by our Consumer Care team.

No. Other than a home Wi-Fi Internet connection (2.4 GHz Required), the Safety 1st Baby Monitor does not have or require any additional fees or subscriptions.

Security is our utmost priority. The Safety 1st Baby Monitor includes a physical encryption chip using AES 256-bit protocols. Furthermore, our cloud storage is encrypted and web transfers are secured using SSL/TLS.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor is designed for use in the United States and Canada. If you are travelling outside of those countries, you will still be able to stream live video to your mobile device as long as the monitor is connected to Wi-Fi

If you are located outside of the United States or Canada you will be unable to download the Safety 1st app from the iOS app store or Google Play store.

Safety 1st Baby monitor camera is about 4" tall, 2.5" deep, and 2.5" wide and weighs about 0.4 pounds. The Safety 1st Baby monitor speaker is about 1.5" tall, 3.5" wide and weighs about 0.16 pounds.

SETUP

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor app can be installed from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The app is free to download and use with purchase of a Safety 1st Baby Monitor.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor requires a 2.4GHz wireless Internet connection for operation. Wireless routers using protocols 802.11 B, G, N or AC are all supported. Dual band routers are supported only the 2.4GHz band is supported by the monitor. After setup is complete, you can connect to view the monitor using any Wi-Fi or LTE network.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor does not use or require connection to a computer. Setup and operation is achieved via your iOS or Android mobile device.

We recommend keeping the Smart Audio Unit plugged in during setup. Fully charging the device can take from 2-3 hours however you can set it up while it is charging. The Baby Monitor does not have a battery and must be plugged in at all times for use.

Safety 1st Baby Monitor uses your Wi-Fi network to send live HD video and audio to the Safety 1st Baby Monitor app on your mobile device.

Yes. After setting up your Safety 1st Baby Monitor, you can invite additional team members.

Team members setup as "Parents" can edit settings, invite & remove team members, view & hear the baby monitor, view & delete baby moments, and enable/disable standby mode on the monitor.

Team members setup as "Family / Friend" can view & hear the baby monitor, can view baby moments but cannot put the baby monitor into standby mode or monitor modify settings.

Each user can personalize their notification settings.

Up to three team members can be simultaneously viewing a single Safety 1st Baby Monitor (depending on your network's available bandwidth.

INSTALLATION

Requirements: Drill, 3/16" drill bit, Phillips screwdriver, hammer, safety glasses
1. Mark the location on the wall where the camera will be mounted.
2. Using a 3/16" drill bit, drill a whole 1.0" (2.54 cm) deep.
3. Insert drywall anchor into hole. Lightly tap with a hammer if necessary until the drywall anchor is flush with the wall surface.
4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, hand screw a screw into the drywall anchor leaving approximately 0.25" (0.63 cm) sticking out.
5. Insert the key hole on the base of the camera onto the screw on the widest part.
6. Slide the camera DOWN on the screw locking the camera into place. DO NOT slide the camera UP as this will result in the camera falling off of the wall.
7. Use the provided wall clips to position and secure the cord 3 ft (0.9 m) away from the crib. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 to place the wall anchors into the wall. Place each wall anchor 2 ft (0.61 m) apart.
8. Place cords into the wall clips and pull tightly to align wall clip hole to wall anchor.
9. Close the top cover to secure the cord in place and insert the provided screw and tighten into wall anchor.

1. Select a location for the Baby Monitor ensuring to keep the monitor at least 3 ft (0.9 m) away from crib. The Baby Monitor should be placed on a flat and stable surface, such as a chest of drawers, desk or shelf.
2. Use the provided wall clips to position and secure the cord 3 ft (0.9 m) away from the crib. To install wall clips, Follow steps in "How can I mount the Safety 1st Baby Monitor to the wall?"

The safest way to install the Safety 1st Baby Monitor is either wall mounted or on a tabletop location, ensuring to keep the monitor at least 3f (0.9 m) away from the crib.

Yes, every Safety 1st Baby Monitor includes heavy-duty screws and anchors for use on wood, brick, concrete, or stucco.

COMPATIBILITY

Apple devices must be running iOS 11 and newer. Android devices must be version 5.0 and newer.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor App is not compatible with Blackberry, Windows, Amazon or Google Chromebook devices.

iOS devices running iOS 11 and newer are supported including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch. To ensure compatibility, visit www.safety1st.com/devicecheck

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor App functions on iPad but does not have a specifically formatted for iPad app.

TECHNICAL

No. The Safety 1st Baby Monitor is for indoor use only and is not protected from moisture and extreme temperatures.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor supports up to HD 720p30 video however this quality can be reduced depending on the Wi-Fi and internet connection in your home or your LTE connection to ensure a continuous connection to the baby monitor.

If your monitor has already been set up in the app or if you have received your baby monitor second hand, the monitor must be removed from the account prior to resetting to factory settings. Follow the "Remove monitor" FAQ.

1. While the monitor is plugged in, insert the tip of an unfolded paperclip into the hole marked "RST" on the back of the baby monitor until you feel a button press. Hold down the button for 3-5 seconds and then release.
2. The LED on the front of the monitor will turn solid red when the reset process is complete. 3. After the reset process is complete, unplug and plug in the monitor and wait for the boot chime to play.
4. The baby monitor is now ready to be added again using the app and following on- screen instructions.

1. Insert the tip of an unfolded paperclip into the hole marked "RST" on the back of the Smart Audio Unit until you feel a button press.
2. Release the button.
3. Smart Audio Unit will power off and reset. This is a "Soft reset"

1. Hold the pairing button on the back of the monitor for 12 seconds.
2. Continue to hold the pairing button after the first audible chime.
3. The Restore process is initiated when you hear a chime for the second time.
4. Release the pairing button.
5. The Power LED switches between red, blue and purple colors repeatedly.
6. The Smart Audio Unit will reboot and the power button LED will be purple.
7. Hold the power button to turn off the Smart Audio Unit and retain factory state until you are ready to proceed with setup of the Smart Audio Unit.

When baby is grown up and you no longer need to monitor them, share this monitor with a family member or friend in need! Before doing that, be sure to remove the monitor from your account.

1. From the dashboard, tap on the monitor setting icon (upper right corner of the monitor card)
2. Scroll down and tap on "Remove Monitor". If you are a "Family / Friend" you'll only end up removing the monitor from your account, only "Parents" can remove the monitor from the Safety 1st system.
3. Tap on the confirmation message.
4. Reboot the monitor by unplugging it from power, wait a few seconds and plug it back in.

Use the included cable and any 2.1 amp USB charger to charge the battery of the Smart Audio Unit.

When connected to a 2.1 amp charger, Safety 1st Baby Monitor Smart Audio Unit will fully charge in approximately 2-3 hours.

Yes - the Smart Audio Unit's light on the power button will turn red and you will also receive a notification on your mobile device (if you are signed in to the Safety 1st app).

Yes, the Safety 1st HD Wi-Fi Baby Monitor is JPMA certified.

CONNECTIVITY

If you are experiencing issues with your internet or in-home Wi-Fi connection, the Safety 1st Baby Monitor may not function as expected. Video and Audio may not stream to your mobile device and Notifications or Baby Moments may not be delivered.

Please contact your internet service provider or Wi-Fi router manufacturer for assistance troubleshooting those services or devices.

If all of your other devices are functioning as expected and nothing else has changed in your network (password, placement of router, new equipment in home) please contact our consumer care for assistance.

No, Safety 1st Baby Monitor was designed to wirelessly connect with your Wi-Fi network.

Yes, Safety 1st Baby Monitor supports WEP, WPA, and WPA2. We recommend WPA2 for best results.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor operates using Wi-Fi to stream video. While there is a Bluetooth antenna on the device, it is only used for pairing the Smart Audio Unit.

No, a static IP address is not required. Use the Safety 1st Baby Monitor app to connect with your home Wi-Fi network and leave all the complexities to us!

Safety 1st Baby Monitor requires Internet connectivity to stream live video and to send push notifications to your mobile device. Connecting to the internet ensures that you can securely access your Safety 1st Baby Monitor whether you are home or away.

VPNs or similar security applications are not supported by the Safety 1st Baby Monitor.

Shared, guest or hotel networks which require you to login using a separate set of credentials are not supported by the Safety 1st Baby Monitor.

Yes, the Safety 1st Baby Monitor is FCC approved.

A wireless extender or repeater is a stand-alone unit that helps your Wi-Fi network to cover a greater distance within your home. They are simple devices that, if supported by your router, are easy to setup. Contact your ISP or router manufacturer for additional support with wireless extenders. These are especially good for homes with multiple levels, homes where the router is in a basement or a far distance from your baby's nursery.

We recommend you configure the extender with a unique network name (SSID) and then connect your Safety 1st Baby Monitor to this unique network name.

USAGE

Yes. Using the Safety 1st Baby Monitor app, you can stream live HD video from your baby's nursery anytime, day or night.

Yes. Videos are generated based on your notification settings for motion and noise. These can be downloaded and shared family and friends directly from the Safety 1st App.

Not at this time. Baby Moment video will be created based on your notification settings and have a duration of 30 seconds each. You can use the "snap" button to save a photo of what's currently live.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor has a 130° viewing angle which means there is no need to pan/tilt the monitor to see the entirety of your baby's nursery.

There are none! The Safety 1st Baby Monitor includes FREE storage of event-based videos for up to 24 hours. Videos are 30 seconds each and are triggered based on personalized motion and noise notification settings. You can also save recorded videos to your mobile device and share them with family or friends.

Yes. As long as you are signed into the app and notifications have been enabled you will receive push notifications based on your personalized settings.

Yes. If your carrier supports video streaming and your LTE/4G signal quality is good enough, you'll be able to stream live HD video from anywhere you have coverage. Each time you load the livestream you will be notified that you are connecting over LTE which may incur bandwidth overage fees if you are streaming for an excessive amount of time.

Yes, every team member is notified of motion or noises coming from a monitor they have been invited to view. Each team member can personalize their notification settings including the sensitivity (tiny / large motions), weather or not to receive motion or noise notifications as well as the frequency of notifications (i.e. every 6 minutes at most).


This is most helpful when a parent may be working while another is caring for the baby. Every user will be able to see Baby Moments generated based on the settings of the user with the most sensitive settings. An avatar icon will show that the baby moment was generated by another team members settings.

No. You will only receive push notifications while you are connected to the internet via 3G, 4G, LTE or Wi-Fi and signed into the Safety 1st mobile app. If your mobile device is offline when activity is detected, you can still see any missed alerts by swiping right on livestream to view Baby Moments.

The Safety 1st Baby Monitor can detect motion up to 30 feet away from the device. When motion is detected, you will instantly receive a push notification on your mobile device, letting you know that there’s activity in your baby's nursery. Opening the alert will launch the app to the livestream video player. Captured Baby Moments are stored for up to 24 hours from when they occur.

Yes, the Safety 1st Baby Monitor features an array of IR LEDs to illuminate the camera's field of view when a lack of light is detected within the device.

Under normal use, the Smart Audio Unit can operate for up to 12 hours between battery charges depending on usage and environment.

Your Baby Moments are shown in the Baby Moment drawer underneath the live feed from your camera. Moments are stored to the cloud for 24 hours, after which they are automatically deleted. Preview images for the Baby Moments are stored to your local device.

Many critical features of the Safety 1st Baby Monitor require Push Notifications.


On iOS, If you would like to avoid receiving pop-ups and sounds, you can disable Alerts by navigating to Settings > Notifications > Safety 1st > Disable Alerts for Lock Screen, Notification Center and Banners as well as turning sounds and badges off. Be sure to leave "Allow Notifications" on to continue enjoying all the apps functionality.


Most Android devices allow you to disable Push Notifications from the Settings Menu, please refer to your device manufacturer to learn about the specific steps required.
