If We Had a Fairy Godmother, This is the Car Seat She'd Make

Every mom’s car seat wishlist has safety at the very top. Next on the list is comfort, right? And rounding out the top three, it has to be easy to use. Whether it’s a quick trip to the grocery store or a rental-van road trip that requires us to uninstall and reinstall our baby’s car seat, we shouldn’t need an engineering degree to operate it.

So we can all agree safety, comfort and ease are car seat requirements. But if we had a fairy godmother — stay with me — who could get into our tired mom brains, figure out what we needed and then add bells and whistles, what would that car seat look like? What kind of safety features would it have? And would it also do laundry and dishes?

Until we find that fairy godmother who gets our laundry and dishes done, we’ve found the next best thing. The Safety 1st Grow and Go Car Seat is the car seat that gives us the safety, comfort and ease of use moms dream about — plus enough extras that we’re suspicious this car seat is magical.

Safety: No Engineering Degree Required

So we can all agree safety, comfort and ease are car seat requirements. No matter how safe a seat is designed to be, it has to be properly installed to do its job. The Safety 1st Grow and Go Car Seat is designed to be incredibly easy to safely install — even for first-time parents. Because first-timer or seasoned pro, most parents would rather leave “struggle to install car seat with fussy baby” off the to-do list.

So often, baby products seem to be designed with a calm and compliant baby in mind. Safety 1st knows that’s not every baby, every day. (Have you met babies?) So when arched backs and flailing arms make it challenging to get little ones in and out of the seat, the Grow and Go Car Seat has handy harness holders to keep straps out of the way.

Safety features that exceed federal standards? Brilliant, flail-proof design? Are we sure there’s not a Fairy Godmother behind this thing?

Messes Happen

If there’s one thing parents learn real quick, it’s that messes are going to happen. There’s really no way around it. The Safety 1st Grow and Go Car Seat was clearly designed by parents who have experienced the inevitable poopy blowouts that explode all the way up baby’s back. It has a removable washable (and dryer safe!) seat pad. Hassle-free pad removal makes it truly easy to clean. There are also two — two! — removable, dishwasher safe cup holders.

We’re pretty sure this car seat is actually magic.

Baby Can Be Laidback (Even When You’re Anything But)

The Grow and Go Car Seat makes it easy to keep your child comfortable with multiple adjustment options.

Not sure how far to recline the seat? There’s an angle guideline to help you easily get the right and safe recline.

The headrests feature advanced cushion Air Protect® technology, providing side impact protection while allowing your child to see the world around them. (Honestly, what good is a car ride without scenery?)

And since it grows with your baby (grow is even in the name!) this seat goes from rear-facing to forward-facing straight through to booster mode. As your little one gets bigger, the QuickFit Harness™ lets you adjust the headrest and harness in one quick motion — with no re-threading and no re-installing. (You might want to read that part again.) Adjustment options mean this seat fits kids from birth up to 10 years old.

Life with a new baby comes with quite enough challenges already, thankyouverymuch. Finding a car seat that’s safe, comfortable and easy to use shouldn’t be one of them. And although an actual Fairy Godmother may not have been responsible for The Safety 1st Grow and Go Car Seat, we’re positively dazzled by the creativity and vision of the design wizards at Safety 1st. They’ve definitely made our car seat dreams come true.
