Fashion Director
Dorel Juvenile Group is looking for a Fashion Director to join our leadership team at our Design and Development Center in Foxboro, MA. This position is responsible for directing and managing the Fashion team and all the creative and executional processes relating to fashion for Dorel Juvenile Group. The Fashion team is responsible for the trend directions, color trends and fashion for all platforms under the umbrellas of the Safety 1st, Cosco and licensed brands (including Eddie Bauer and Disney). The Fashion Director is also responsible for changing fashion development and execution for select retailer exclusive brands.
Development and process responsibilities include communicating and working with the team to manage and track development timelines. Oversee the Fashion team's ability to generate accurate specifications for materials and platform specification. Oversee the preparation of artwork to be sent to suppliers for development for accuracy. Ensuring the Fashion team is working closely with cross functional team members on a continual basis to answer all of their Fashion needs and questions. Creative responsibilities include communicating and working with the Fashion Designers to forecast fashion trends and color palettes for the next calendar year in support of the juvenile furniture category. Responsible for color palettes being developed, trend presentations, and a portfolio of artwork with product renderings for each brand. Ensure all information is prepared and ready to be presented to major accounts.
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required in a fashion/creative environment. Must be able to harness the creative spirit of individuals and get the desired results as scheduled. Must possess a working knowledge in various design software programs to ensure the productivity and efficiency of the design resources available. Software may include but not limited to: Illustrator, Photoshop, Ned Graphics and U4ia. Must be proficient on a PC computer including Microsoft Office programs. Must have working knowledge of textile and print terminology, a good eye for color, and the ability to forecast and see trends in the marketplace and relate them to the juvenile furniture industry. Must have a working knowledge of desired qualities and constructions (woven, printed and knit) of fabrics and price sensitivity of material cost in relationship to the budget. Must have excellent presentation and communication skills in order to work effectively with the Fashion, Marketing and Design teams as well as the sales representatives and their buyers. Must have excellent organizational skills and be self motivated. Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment a must.
