At Safety 1st helping you keep your family safe is our top priority and pets are no exception. They too are members of the family and we realize how important it is to you to provide them with the safest home environment possible. Here are a few tips on products that can help “pet proof” your home: Blind Cord Wind Ups – There’s nothing kittens and cats like to do more than play with the cords that dangle from the blinds in your windows. However, these cords can pose a strangulation danger as cats can become entangled in the cords while playing. Blind Cord Wind Ups keep the cords neatly out of reach to keep kitty safe. Toilet Lock – This device keeps the toilet lid down and locked so that your dog or cat cannot drink out of the bowl. This can be especially dangerous if you have cleaners that are released from the tank every time you flush. These cleaners can be fatal for a pet. Cabinet Latches- These can be used on cabinets where cleaners or other harmful substances are kept. It can also keep curious pets out of the cabinet where the trash can is stored. Not only does the trash create a mess, it can also be harmful to your pet depending on what they eat from it. Basic things such as saran wrap and plastic bags can be fatal to your pet if ingested. Gates – These are a must to keep dogs in the rooms where you want them to be and out of the rooms that you don’t. It provides a safer environment for your puppy or dog, and definitely saves your house from wear and tear as well. Toilet Paper Roll Saver- Although toilet paper poses no real danger to a pet, this device is more for your sanity than the pet’s safety. It keeps them from unrolling the toilet paper which many cats and dogs love to do. TopPlaySafe™ CollectionSafety 1st® PlaySafe™ High Chair

This month, we chatted with Safety 1st Executive Vice President of Sales, Ted Kelley, about his newest addition to the family. For Ted and his wife Carrie, Christmas came a couple days early with the arrival of Meghan Marie, 7lbs. 1oz, on December 23. Big brother Ryan, age 2, can’t get enough of his new baby sister. He loves holding her and snuggling with her every chance he gets. The Kelley family keeps a camera within reach at all times as Ryan does not want to miss any of Meghan’s important “firsts.” He yells out, “Picture! Picture!” when Meghan smiles, coos or even cries! Meghan has been riding around town in the new Safety 1st infant car seat which features plenty of extra legroom. (Look for it on our website next month!) Whether she is on her way to visit family or a doctor’s appointment, she is always riding in comfort and style. Congratulations to Ted and his family!
